In the center of the city, in a privileged location, next to the emblematic New Bridge of Ronda, you will find the Parador, on top of the old Town Hall. It is located in an impressive enclave, with unique views over the Tajo, a gap 120 meters deep. Inside you will enjoy the soft tones that decorate its spacious and bright rooms. You can take a bath and lie in the sun in its gardens with swimming pool, and marvel at the views from the rooms, many of them duplexes with terraces. The city invites you to take a leisurely tour, allowing you to appreciate the features of the old Arab medina on the south bank of the Guadalevín River, cross the Puente Nuevo and walk through the Alameda del Tajo and its avenues full of vegetation, which lead to a walk with an impressive balcony located on the edge of the abyss. The Puente Nuevo and the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda are a symbol of the city and a must-see. The New Bridge is an impressive 98-meter-high work, built from stone ashlars extracted from the bottom of the Tagus gorge to connect the old neighborhood of the city with the modern neighborhood or the Mercadillo, enabling its urban expansion. From the balconies of the emblematic bridge, the views of the houses hanging over the precipice are spectacular. The natural environment of Ronda is no less beautiful than the city, surrounded by protected areas and the Natural Parks of Sierra de la Grazalema, Sierra de las Nieves and Los Alcornocales. La casa del Jamón

La casa del Jamón

Description

The Casa del Jamon de Ronda was founded in 1989 by Don Leocadio Corbacho Bocanegra. After years of dedication to the hospitality industry, this enterprising businessman wanted to collect over the years all the fruit of his experience as a ham cutter. His beginnings date back to 1965 when in the patrol militias he learned to cut ham for the canteen sandwiches, since they had to be thin slices. At the same time and given his experience and professionalism as a ham cutter, it was around 1989 when he decided to open his first store dedicated to ham, sausages, cheeses and wines. Not being there, one of his sons, David Leocadio, decides to get close to his father to give her a hand in the store and soon after that of his second son, Alberto.
In 2002, Leocadio Corbacho entered one of the most prestigious competitions in this country, finishing in first place, merits that made him recognize his entire career as a ham cutter at the national level. In 2004, his son David Leocadio won the First Prize for Ham Cutters from Villanueva de Córdoba. Following the line of his teacher, David Leocadio continues his streak of awards, winning the first prize in Madrid in 2005 and then the first prize in Teruel. Then, his son Alberto followed the path of his father and brother, and in 2007 he won the First Prize for Ham Cutters of Madrid. Not stopping there, his son-in-law Juan Miguel Orellana is added to the business. After a few years, Leocadio together with his sons David Leocadio and Alberto decide to open a new store in the city of Marbella. And some time later a second store opened in Ronda. Once opened and expanding the staff, Lourdes Corbacho, daughter of Leocadio, joins the team, who along with her husband Juan Miguel joins the new round store.
. In 2009, Juan Miguel, and with the experience he obtained, decided to enter the National Ham Cutters Competition in Madrid, from which he again won First Prize. In 2011, Lourdes also decided to enter this contest, also collecting that First Prize, and becoming the first woman to obtain such a great award. Followed by that and for the same year she entered the First Ham Slicer Contest held in Madrid and again won First Prize. Since 2002 with the idea of Leocadio, La Casa del Jamon has held one of the most prestigious Ham Cutter Competitions in the city of Ronda, recognized by the best ham cutters in our entire country, receiving two awards, one in the year 2008 and the latter in 2012 as the best contest organized at the national level. At “La Casa Del Jamón” you have at your disposal Guijelo and Jabugo Iberian hams, Guijelo and Alto Genal Iberian hams, Iberian sausages, cheeses, delicatessen oils and preserves from the sea, Ronda wines and exceptional offers and online promotions.

Bodegas Cezar

Bodegas Cezar

Description

Making a wine of the highest quality in the warm south of Spain represents quite a challenge. Some consider that perhaps you have to be a little crazy to try it. Although sometimes luck accompanies the bold. The greater the challenge, the greater the reward. But if you think carefully, this idea is not so far-fetched.

First of all, the vineyard is located 680 meters above sea level, in a cool area between two rivers, the Guadiaro and the Genal. The lower substrates are mostly composed of calcareous shale.

The vineyards face west, towards the Atlantic, so the shadow of the mountain protects them for much of the central hours of the day. During winter it snows and there are large temperature differences between day and night, which generates thick-skinned grapes, a necessary condition to achieve a very dense color. The long, warm summer ripens the grapes optimally, increasing the concentration of sugars. All these factors contribute to creating optimal conditions for vine cultivation.

Winery La Melonera

Winery La Melonera

Description

It was an April afternoon in 2003 when the winemaker Javier Suqué, heir to one of the most important wine traditions in Spain, shared with his cousin Jorge Viladomiu Peitx the illusion of doing something different, something that would leave its mark, and at the same time paid tribute to a lifetime dedicated to the cultivation of the vine. This is how, together with a group of investors passionate about the challenge, they embarked on the adventure of finding the best location for the creation of unique wines. After much research among the endless volumes of the private library of the Perelada Castle, property of the Suqué Mateu family since 1923, the answer appeared between the pages of a book written in 1807 by Simón de Rojas Clemente, in which They detailed the incomparable characteristics of the Serranía de Ronda and its ancient winemaking tradition, interrupted at the end of the 19th century by the phylloxera plague. With patience and care, the native vines were tracked and recovered to return them to that land bathed by the Mediterranean sun, by the Atlantic winds and by a tradition of vines that dates back to the time of the Phoenicians. Little by little the efforts bore fruit, and today, with their wines La encina del Inglés and Payoya negra, that old dream is a very concrete reality.
